Business General Liability Insurance
Commercial General Liability
Sustaining growth and profitability requires a strong loss-control program backed by the strength of Commercial General Liability insurance. With Berlin Insurance as your partner, we will determine the extent of your operational exposures to provide the policy you need. A Commercial General Liability policy provides the following coverages:
- Bodily Injury and Property Damage to third parties
(anyone other than you and your employees) - Medical Expenses (cost of calling an ambulance for someone injured on your premises, medical treatment)
- Completed Products (e.g. damage caused by your products after you finish creating them)
- Contractual Liability (including any liability you assume by entering into leases or other contracts)
- Personal and Advertising Injury (claims of slander or libel)
Commercial Auto
We provide Commercial Auto insurance whether you use company-owned commercial vehicles or have some of your employees use their vehicles for work. A Commercial Auto policy can be designed to provide several coverages, including Bodily Injury and Property Damage Liability for third-party losses with the business vehicle; Medical Payments, which cover the cost of injuries to the driver and passengers in the business vehicle; and Uninsured and Underinsured Motorists Coverage to pay for your injuries caused by an uninsured driver or a driver with insufficient coverage.
You can also add Hired & Non-Owned Auto Liability insurance to the policy to cover claims against your business if an employee has an accident while using his or her own (or rented) vehicle for business purposes. Comprehensive and Collision coverage protects your vehicles against fire, theft, and damage.
The coverage you carry depends on your exposure and how much risk you can afford to take. We will review this with you carefully to determine your Liability limits and deductible amounts.
Commercial Umbrella
While primary policies, such as Commercial General Liability and Automobile Liability, transfer your liability risks, if a significant loss runs into millions of dollars, Umbrella Liability insurance is needed to provide you with an extra layer of protection. It will extend the coverage on your primary Liability policies to pay for costs associated with lawsuits, legal fees, and settlements.
If, for example, you have a liability claim that requires $4 million to settle, and the limit on your General Liability policy is $1 million, your out-of-pocket costs would be $3 million. A $5 million Umbrella policy would cover the remainder of the settlement, leaving your assets untouched.
